Our Story: Rooted in 1910, Growing for the Future

A Century of Stewardship

Our roots in this land run deeper than the mycelium we cultivate. In 1910, my great-grandfather settled a section of forest near the river in Northern Alberta, beginning a family legacy of land stewardship that has lasted over a century. While my cousins and extended family carry on the traditions of ranching and broad-acre farming across the province, I have taken our family’s connection to the land into the forest canopy.

Where Biology Meets the Boreal Forest

Mushroom Labs Alberta was born from a vital question: How can we use ecological expertise to make high-quality nutrition both sustainable and affordable? As a professional biologist, I’ve designed our operation to bridge the gap between nature and innovation. We utilize mechanical and symbiotic ecology within the old-growth stands of Lesser Slave Lake and Westlock Counties. By using isolated forest tents and precision indoor cultivation, we grow premium Lion’s Mane and Oyster mushrooms year-round without the use of pesticides.

Small Scale, Big Mission

We are a specialized, family-run team of two to five people. Because we are small, we can focus on the details that matter: quality, freshness, and the Human Right to food security. We believe that local food stability is a right, not a luxury.

To ensure the bounty of the forest is accessible in every season, we process our harvest in a commercial kitchen to create gourmet staples:

Fresh Harvest: Hand-picked and delivered within Alberta.

Mushroom Salts & Chocolates: Handcrafted and shipped Canada-wide.

We are proud to support our local community, one harvest at a time. Look for us at the Fawcett Farmers Market during the 2026 season; we’d love to share the science and the flavor of our forest-grown fungi with you.

About the Founder

As a biologist, my focus is on regional food security and healthy ecological production. At Mushroom Labs Alberta, I work to bring the purity of our old-growth forest to your kitchen, cultivating every harvest with scientific care and local attention. For me, this isn't just a business; it’s about honoring a century of Alberta history and building a sustainable future for our community.
